Safety

The acrylic resins Aksa contain (as a reactive solvent) methyl methacrylate (MMA), an inflammable liquid with the flashpoint at 10°C. The explosive mixtures are created with the air at the contents of the NMA between 2, 1 and 12, 5 %. Vapours are heavier than air. The safe work requires the use of gloves and the protective glasses, and in the case of more important quantities even face mask, rubber boots, and rubber protective cloths.

After the finished manipulations with Aksa resins, where a greater emissions of MMA vapours appear, it is required to assure adequate local aspiration at the floor, and, of course, general air ventilation. All sources of ignition shall be prevented at the spots where more important emissions could appear. The electrical devices in these zones shall be of the explosion safe design. The MMA is not toxic, yet it is irritant. The over-passing of the limit value shall be prevented at all workplaces where the emissions are expected.
