Company's history

1974

September 4, 1974, was the starting date of the acrylic production plant, at that period operating within the framework of the company Novoles, Straža.
During the trial run and till the end of the year 1975, the plant employed 48 workers. The cast acrylic, nowadays known under the commercial name Aglas, was produced in three principal types - transparent, opal, and colour (translucent) acrylic sheets. The acrylic sheets were produced in two sizes and in five thicknesses. The production was carried out in one shift.

1976

The second production programme was started, namely, the processing of the cast acrylic for the construction elements - sky domes and light bands, nowadays known under the commercial name Alux.
The production of the cast acrylic is carried out in two shifts. The total number of employees is 72.

1978

The production of a new type of sheets commenced - the sanitary grade acrylic sheets.

1984

10 years of the company's business activity. The average production of the cast acrylic sheets has arisen to approximately 80 tons. The production of the transparent type of the acrylic sheets is still prevailing, and the sanitary grade, opal, and colour sheets follow. The acrylic sheets are produced in thickness up to 10 mm. The company employs 131 workers.

1987

The production of the cast polyamides, known under the commercial name Novilon, starts.

1989/90

The company splits-off the company Novoles and performs its status reorganisation into AKRIPOL, a company for the production and processing of polymers.

1994

20 years of company's business activity. The production of the transparent type of the acrylic sheets is still prevailing, and then follows the production of the sanitary grade acrylic sheets, opal and colour sheets, and a new type of transparent sheets.
The company employs 147 workers.

1995

The Aglas programme is enlarged for the production of sheets, thicker than 10 mm.
Acquisition of the certificate ISO 9001.

1999/2000

Investment in the modernisation of technology: the investment comprised the aspiration, stirrers for the mixing of additives, automated dosing, and a washing machine, meant for washing glasses and for the technological process, thus improving working conditions, as well as the security and health at work, what considerably improved the quality of acrylic sheets.
The introduction of the closed cooling system for reactors reduced the consumption of drinking water for more than 65 % per production unit. In the course of the year 1998 the operation of the organic solvents incinerator was stopped and the steam boiler plant was replaced by the hot water system. By the introduction of the chemical substances and hazardous wastes managing system the company demonstrated its responsible attitude towards environment and wider social community.

2001

The ownership changed: the company TRIMO, d. d., Trebnje, becomes the owner of almost 73 % of the company.

2002

The investment in 6 new chambers for post polymerisation was realized; the certificates ISO 9001/2000, and ISO 14001 were acquired.

2004

30 years of company's business activity. The acrylic sheets have been produced in more than 100 standard colours, and furthermore, any colour can be produced on client's order. The acrylic sheets can be produced in the thickness of 40 mm as well. The third shift was introduced for the first time due to the increased sale. The total number of employees is 174.
The expansion of sale required the establishment of the company Akripol Zagreb d.o.o., conducting a successful business operation and recording the rise in sale and in incomes.

2005

The branch office in Priština is established.

2006

This year records the commencement of the construction of the new production hall in the size of 2640 m2, foreseen for the introduction of the new technology, ensuring the increase of the existing production capacities of the production programmes Alux and Novilon for approximately 60 %.
The second part of the investment is planned for the year 2007, namely, the new line of the Aglas programme, whose start-up is foreseen in the year 2008.
The company AKRIPOL - S, d. o. o., Kovačica, in the Republic of Serbia, is established.
