Environment

The constant and important policy of the company Akripol d.d. is the concern for the healthy working and living environment. In the course of the past years, and by means of the modifications of processes, we, the company's employees, have already achieved more optimal use of resources, the reduction of emissions in the environment, as well as the reduction of the waste quantities, and that in spite of the increase of the production performances. All the employees have wished to improve the attitude towards working and living environment, and for this reason we introduced the Environmental Management System ISO 14001, and in the year 2002 we acquired the certificate with the aim to upgrade the efficiency and the successfulness of the company in this domain, too. In order to achieve a continuous progress we have upgraded the Environment Management System in compliance with the standard ISO 14001:2004. The fundamental principles on environment protection are defined in the Company's Environmental Policy. We have defined the environmental goals and established the environmental management programme on basis of the identified environmental viewpoints and the environment associated impacts.

The greatest success of the recent period was achieved in the following domains:

• reduction of the consumption of all energy products (electricity, water, fuel oil),
• higher quality of waste waters,
• reduced emission of substances in the air,
• replacement of toxic and hazardous substances with less hazardous substances and non-hazardous substances, and
• separate collection of wastes, respectively, a higher rate of wastes for recovery.

With the entry of the Republic of Slovenia into the EU the regulatory requirements become compulsory. The company Akripol, d.d., is liable according to this principal activity due to the production of polymer materials. In April 2005 we filed our application for the installations of IPPC - Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control at the Ministry for Environment and Spatial Planning, and in May 2006 we filed the application for the acquisition of the environmental protection permit, too, which is expected to be delivered in the year 2007.

It is our great pleasure and satisfaction that in the course of the past period we have not received any claims from citizens, which would result from our business activity conduct. At the same time we can proudly say that the results of the internal and external (competent national institutes) measurements of the emissions of substances in the air and in the water, as well as noise, is considerably lower as defined in the statutory provisions.
